I'm sad to report that Todd Brietenstein, co-founder and President of Twilight Creations Inc., passed away yesterday, after suffering with a very aggressive cancer. Todd was a local boy here in Northern Kentucky, and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Kerry, who is the Vice President of Twilight Creations, as well as their three wonderful children.
It's few and far between that you'll find so prolific a game company as Twilight Creations. They've been in business for only 12 years, but have developed and printed 24 core games as well as innumerable expansions. Their first game, "Zombies!!!" has been continuously in print since 2001 and has been supplemented by no less than 11 expansions as well as five more parts kits. It is one of the most easily recognizable games in our entire hobby, being represented in virtually every game store in the United States as well as in stores such as Hot Topic and Barnes and Noble. It was, coincidentally enough, one of the first hobby games I played after re-entering the hobby some ten years ago, and it will always be one of the games that shall persistently sit on my game shelf.
I once reviewed one of their games, Zombie Survival, which has recently released an expansion, and I encourage you to support Kerry in her time of sorrow any way you can, first and foremost by going out and purchasing Zombies!!! or any of Twilight Creations' other fine games, so that you can do just what Todd would've wanted - enjoy his games, and spend time with your friends and family. I'm sure the extra orders will help them with any medical bills they might have, and it would be a perfect tribute to one of the "good guys" in the gaming industry.
Here's the Twilight Creations website, starting with a list of their games:
http://www.twilightcreationsinc.com/en/boardgames.html
And a link to my Zombie Survival review:

Via con Dios, Todd, and may you at last have the peace that you so richly deserve.

I'm Baaaaaaack!
I've finally found out what's wrong with me, and yes, as expected, it's all in my head. Or at least mostly. I am in the process of being sorted out, which means that reviews will be making their triumphant return posthaste.
Some gent at Fortress: Ameritrash (www.fortressat.com) contacted me and asked me to review Earth Reborn, Olympos, and Venture Forth, and he's actually sending them to me on his dime. Epic coolness, so much love out to Nate F.
This is ThreeeeeeeDog...signing off. (or something of that nature).

Live D&D Session With Celebrities....That I Never Heard Of...
I, as a corporate lapdog, got this email from Wizards of the Coast's PR company, and they told me that there is a celebrity D&D live show where you can watch a bunch of celebrities play D&D live. It's a buck to sign in to the site, which I'm sure will be BLOATED with traffic. Here's that email:
*** MEDIA ALERT ***
OK, now here's what I don't get. Who the hell thinks that Dan Milano and Zack Hanks are celebrities? If it was Vin Diesel, maybe I'd be down because I have a man-crush on the dude. Yes, I'd maybe fuck Riddick if I was drunk enough. Oh, and if I was gay. But still, I had to look up who the hell those two dudes are...and when I did, I confirmed that not only are they not really celebrities, one of them is a puppeteer for the most amazing show ever, Robot Chicken, and the other is a video game voice actor. It also appears he played some cameos on some TV shows, too.
But seriously....I am only mentioning this because I haven't put anything on the blog for a minute and this might be interesting because having a Robot Chicken guy playing D&D, and IN CHARACTER, might well be funny as hell.
Plus, it's for charity.
So, if you're interested, you're officially invited. By Ms. XXXXX XXXXX from Wizards' PR company. And she sounds REALLY exotic...that name has me turned on, just a little.
If I were Robert Florence (and I wish I was, sometimes) you'd now be hearing the Ooh Zaa Ohh bit.
Cheers,

Happy New Year!

Anyhow, I'm sure you're wondering where I've been. Where is this Drizzt review? Where is ANY review? Well, I'd love to tell you that I've been busy having an assload of fun, frolicking naked in the dandelions and whatnot. Well, no. I was in the ER on Christmas, and then again on the 27th. I even got to stay overnight! I've been stuck with shitloads of needles, irradiated both in and out, and subjected to the worst thing imaginable, a no-caffeine diet.
Good news is that the medical establishment has certified that my heart is as strong as an 18 year old linebacker's, my lungs are as clear as a non-smokers (which I now am, as of Christmas, which is coincidental, not reactionary to my internment at the ER; my present to myself this year was to quit pissing my money away on cigarettes), and my brain is hemorrhage free.
Yet, I am still sick as fuck, and they have no idea why. No, I'm not blaming vaccines.
So, that's why there has been no update to the site in the past week or so; it's that I've been sick as a fucking dog. A sick dog, too.
But, I'm committed to getting some reviews out shortly, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Cheers,
Pete (The Management)

Thanks To Those Who Serve Us All
From all of us at the Superfly Circus, our thoughts are with those of deployed to the various sandboxes of the world, sitting in scorching heat, catching incoming mortar fire while you're just trying to make it home. Our thoughts are with those at Ramstein Air Base, Walter Reed, and other military hospitals where you may be recovering, or if you're taking care of America's finest. We're thinking of you if you're just sitting at a desk in a Quatermaster's office, making sure that the supply of tobacco, whiskey, and ammunition makes it to where it needs to go to keep our men and women supplied. We're with you in spirit if you're standing guard at the South Korean DMZ, sleeves rolled up in 10 degree weather, proving you're tougher than those sons of bitches across the no-man's land.
The Superfly Circus supports each and every last one of you. While we may not always like your orders, and we know you may not either, the fact is that having the courage and honor to do what you do every day, on my behalf, on behalf of my wife and little girls; the sacrifices you make, the lives put on hold, all of it...we're damned proud of every last one of you.
Someday, maybe, the world will be at peace and we won't need Minuteman missiles, F-22 Raptors, the Charles Vinson, A-10s, and M-4 Carbines. Until that day, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts because without you manning those weapons, without the steel resolve required to stand firm when every instinct in every facet of your soul tells you to run like hell and get the fuck out of there, YOU are the difference between me being able to live a free man and living under the tyranny of a dictatorial regime that would do us harm. YOU are the reason our cities aren't being devastated by the madness of power-hungry megalomaniacs and idealogical zealots.
So we thank you.
And we also thank the families of the folks who serve our country with honor and distinction. The fathers who raised their children to love freedom, and to have the courage to send them off to dangerous jobs in dangerous places. To the wives and husbands who cry alone at night that they may never see their loved one again. To the children who go without a father or mother because their parent is a true American patriot. To those of you, we say thanks.
And even though it's an American holiday, we say thanks to our allies' troops that, in many cases, don't even have a dog in the hunt, so to speak. Folks that have no business being embroiled in conflicts that their countries sent them to primarily to appease American politicians. To you, your families, and to your nations, we thank you for what you do for us. While political alliances come and go, individual alliances are not so easily forgotten. To the British, the Poles, the Japanese, the Canadians, and all others who serve your countries and fight alongside Americans, you will not be forgotten. And we thank you.
Thank you all for what you do. Thank you for making the world less chaotic so that free societies can exist, and individuals are free to seek out their own, personal brand of happiness. Without the sentries at the gate, without good men and women who knowingly choose to stand watch against the oppression of hate and madness, we would surely perish. We'll always be in your debt, and we'll always owe you more than we can ever repay. The best we can offer is a true, heartfelt thanks, and knowing that we honor you not just as soldiers, seamen, airmen, marines, and coasties, but as individuals who are truly the finest representatives of what freedom means: The choice to make a difference in the world, no matter the personal cost.
Thank you.

Kickstarter Spotlight: Travesty Games
This week, since the wife is out of town tending to her very sick grandmother, I haven't had too much time to play games. I've got 3 games on the review schedule, but I simply can't get people together to play them for a second or third time, respectively. Suffice to say that one of them will knock your socks off and the other will have you soiling yourself with laughter, at least until the jokes wear thin.
So, this lunch hour I've decided to start yet another little Circus venture, where I show you some games that you likely have never, and arguably would never, have heard of. These games are from relatively unknown, or at least underrealized, companies that are making their livings by trying to get funding through Kickstarter, the newest way for companies to attract investments in small increments based upon a sort of preorder system.
This week's game company is Travesty Games, a small and relatively unknown publisher that got its start on Kickstarter and has successfully produced a handful of imaginative and rather diabolical games. Just my kind of folks.
Travesty Games is an odd bird, and that's why I've been subtly stalking them for a while. The boys over there, Gil and Adam, have a good sense of humor and I, as a proponent of all things humorous, appreciated their "Vision" page on their website:
"Our goal is to make stuff so awesome that your skin flies off your body.
Or to put it another way, our goal is to make stuff so awesome that it’ll make you run into the forest, where a turkey will fly into your mouth and you will jump up into a tree. And I’m not talking about some little tree either. I’m talking about a Redwood or something.
And that’s how angry that makes me."
So far, my skin is still intact, but I've had skin cancer and so I stay out of the sun to avoid burns and subsequent peeling. Maybe I'm the outlier. To be fair, though, I've only read rules and checked their press releases, so perhaps I've just not been exposed to their games long enough to have my skin etched from my body as they so hope. Anyhow, they have three really interesting products, one of which has just successfully been funded by Kickstarter supporters.
The first game is PsiDuel, a card game that allows you to take the role of a psionic superdude (or superbabe, as it were) to psychically kick the piss out of your opponent. The card art is really nice, and the layout of the cards is actually really appealing to me. So appealing, in fact, that I asked Gil to send me a copy for review, which he has kindly done. So you'll be hearing more about it very soon.
http://www.travestygames.com/?page_id=21
The second game is KillBall, which is a cross between soccer and the French revolution, and it's played by clones. There's goals on either side of the board, and the goal mechanisms aren't all that smart, so you can score by putting a ball in the goal, or alternatively, by severing an enemy player's head and putting it in the goal instead. Not only that, but you can regrow clones, which squirt out of little chutes and can re-enter play. In short, heads will roll. It's a neat looking and quite clever dicefest, and although the art is black and white, it's still a pretty cool chit and counter type game.
http://www.travestygames.com/?page_id=18
The last game these guys are currently publishing is a cool dungeon crawler called Deathfear. It's not your standard fare, though, as it comes with a twist: the object isn't to kill some nameless, faceless monster and emerge a champion, it's to BECOME the nameless, faceless monster before your opponents, and then bust their shit loose. You hunt the dungeon for demon parts, and once you've gotten them all, you become that demon and then seek to devour your former running mates.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/travestygames/deathfearThere's a promotional video that comes with the game, apparently, and you have to check it out. It reminds me of the video that comes with Dragonstrike on VHS...it's a riot.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/travestygames/deathfear/widget/video.html
I just started looking at this game very recently, and they just hit their mark on Kickstarter, which guarantees that the game will be published. It's currently on a fast-track to get printed before GenCon, and these boys will be there in the dealer hall at booth 757, giving demos of PsiDuel, from what I understand. Get over and show them some love, check out their stuff, and see if there's something there for you.

Castle Ravenloft - Hunt For The Fiend Teaser
Due to overwhelming curiousity on the part of my beloved readers, I've decided to upload the first half of my Hunt for the Fiend campaign for use with the Castle Ravenloft Board Game. I will be releasing all of the adventures within a Superfly Circus Exclusive Special Limited Edition (yeah, that makes it sound all kinds of fancy-pants, doesn't it) release. In other words, it'll only be here.
Anyhow, this teaser will indicate the kinds of adventures that the clever lad might deign to create if one were to have the time and imagination. In my recent Castle Ravenloft review, some morons at Boardgamegeek.com noted that by "changing the rules" I was not actually evaluating the game itself, but rather "my version of the game". It's clear that those who said this have never actually played the game or read the rules, or they'd have understood that this clearly was not my epiphany, but rather, expanding the game under the confines of the existing rule set was the realization I had.
Well, to those who said such erroneous things, I respond with this: "Fuck You Very Much." I would be banned from Boardgamegeek for saying that (and have been) but I can say what I want here, so please, have a coke and a smile, get out of your parents' basement where you have been living while dodging real responsibility and pursuing your third MBA (Masters of Being an Asshat). Get a real job for the first time in your lives, you miserable, bitter fucks, and try actually creating something other than a white, crusty stain on the bottom of your desk, rather than attempting to constantly prove how smart you are by tearing others' work down.
Moving on...and back to the regularly scheduled programming.
The game is more than just a game, as anyone who has played it beyond the first 3 scenarios can see. It is a game system with virtually limitless options on what you can develop for it. I'm not talking about major rules changes like "Branam's Variant" that substantially alter the core rule set and make the printed manual and reference cards included with the game virtually obsolete. I'm talking about scenario-specific, sanctioned changes that do not alter the core rules one whit, but instead build upon what was in the rule manual as well as the examples given in the adventure guide.
So, without further delay, I am happy to furnish you with the first part of this multipart campaign, "In Ravenloft's Shadow":

2010 Review - Why 2010 Didn't Suck For Boardgames, At Least For Me...
I've heard a lot of ramblings this year about how 2010 was not a great year for boardgames in general, and certainly not for Ameritrash. Personally, I have no idea what the hell those folks who decry 2010 as a craptastic year are talking about. This year had me playing all kinds of great games, and I was thoroughly impressed with not only the volume, but the quality of the games that came out this year. I'm not one of these egomaniacs that need to, let alone feel I'm capable to, point out the single best game I've played this year, so I've decided to toss my opinions out there on games released in, or nearly in, 2010 that were head-and-shoulders better than the rest.
Yes, I'm aware that some of these games were released late in 2009. Since I don't subscribe to the cult of the new, nor do I get massive truckloads of free review games to praise or pillage, I play what I can, when I can, and I review them only after I've played them at least three times as to provide a true opinion on how the games actually play. Some reviewers may play a game once or twice with the same people, or worse, as a solo game, but I think that every game should get a fair, educated review and thus a game can't really be evaluated without giving it a fair shake with both a multitude of plays and plays with different groups. So, without further delay, here's the list of the best games I've played this year!
First, let's talk about a game that I found to be outstanding in almost every regard, and a game that I love dearly: Cyclades. Some people bitch that it's not Ameritrash, others that it's not a Euro, and some just bitch because it's neither. What it is, my friends, is an exceptionally fun, tightly designed game that is both challenging, well produced in terms of components, and easily one of the most beautifully illustrated games I've played this year. While some might not like the fact that you bid upon actions you can take during the game, it adds a tremendous amount of strategy to the game and allows for protracted strategies to take place where a player can build wealth, waiting for the precise moment to strike and defeat opponents' armies.
Cyclades - 4.5/5 Stars

Next, a phenomenal game that received virtually unanimous high praise is Summoner Wars. This game is fast, pretty, and smart, and to top it all off, it's cheap. I'm not a huge fan of card games in general unless they involve taking suckers' money, but this game broke the mold for me. When you consider the expansions and lack of CCG or "deck building" that permeates many card games these days, this game was a breath of fresh air and still a game that I like to play, nearly a year later.

Now, speaking of card games that have changed my mind about card games, let's talk about one of the most prolific designers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, John Clowdus. The man is a phenomenon unto himself, pumping out fresh, new games through his Small Box Games brand on a monthly basis. Sure some of them have made me wonder what the hell he was thinking, such as Tempt, but the vast, overwhelming majority of his games are tight, brilliant, and most importantly, fun. Irondale, for one, is a tremendously smart city-building game that captured a lot of peoples' attention this year, and it still hits my game table fairly often. Another game that exploded onto my game table and has since taken up permanent residence is a smart, fun game that had all my friends conspiring and betraying one another, Politico: Fall of Caesar. Finally, a game that I consider to be his Opus Magnum, Bhazum, is the single most engaging, fun card game I've ever played, and anyone who wants a game that can be played in a half an hour with a single opponent should own it. It's simply marvelous, and with Small Box Games' low price points, anyone can afford to play these amazing games.
Irondale - 4/5 Stars

Politico: Fall of Caesar - 4.5/5 Stars

Moving away from card games to my first love, miniatures games, you have to admit that 2010 was a wonderful year. There were quite a few games that had little plastic warriors attempting to commit genocide upon the opposition, but in my mind, one of the absolute cream of the crop this year was Grindhouse Games' Incursion. It built upon the solid formula that has sustained Space Hulk for all of these years by adding some incredibly slick mechanics, such as card-based abilities and "level-ups" that changed how I looked at Space Hulk and its clones, forever. While Incursion's "Weird War 2" zombies versus steampunk GI theme may not be as interesting to some as "Space Marines Versus The Alien Menace", the game's wonderful visuals and incredibly tight gameplay more than makes up for any shortcomings that one might believe exists in the theme. If you like tactical, squad-based shooter games, this is the one for you. Even better, it's a full fifty dollars cheaper than Space Hulk's third edition, making it a hell of a deal.
Incursion - 4.5/5 Stars

Another game that seemed to come out of nowhere and knock the piss of the "establishment" was Clever Mojo Games' Alien Frontiers. Not only is it easily one of the most fun games I have ever played, it has the distinction of being the only game I've played in recent history that had every single person I've played it with enjoy it to the point of asking for an immediate rematch. It's a dicefest to be sure, but the smart resource management and player interaction aspects of the game make this one of the cleanest, tightest designs of the year. No matter who you are or what kind of gamer you are, this is the one that suits all fancies. It's simply a blast to play, and the fact that it's being reprinted in a couple of months is a boon to anyone who missed out the first time and couldn't afford the $120 price tag that the Ebay folks were asking for it.
Alien Frontiers - 4.25/5 Stars

Area control games have always been a lot of fun for me, with games like El Grande, Cave Troll, and Tikal seeing a lot of playtime in my game groups. I was pleased to find a company called Assa Games, who put out two incredibly fun games, Conquest of the Fallen Lands and Galaxy's Edge. The former is a quest to retake a kingdom that has fallen to legions of fell beasts where the latter is a galactic quest for colonization and military superiority. Both are tile-based and have random layouts meaning the game is virtually infinitely playable, but that is the only similarity they share. These games knocked my socks off, and I am literally going to play a game of Galaxy's Edge in about a half an hour when my buddy gets here. Definately a couple of great games from a relatively unknown publisher that deserves some love for making a couple of really fun games. Galaxy's Edge is a lot better, but Conquest is a lot more approachable and one that I would consider to be a "family game" of sorts.
Conquest of the Fallen Lands - 3.75/5 Stars

Galaxy's Edge - 4.25/5 Stars
http://superflycircus.blogspot.com/2010/12/galaxys-edge-epic-interstellar-conquest.html
Last, but certainly not least is a tremendously fun game that was initially criticized for its use of the ever-hated Comic Sans font, but ended up being almost universally praised as one of the best games of the year. Defenders of the Realm is a mix of a lot of different mechanics, and all of them work. The fact that it's a co-op game can detract from some people's enjoyment as some people just like to kill one another all the time, but barring that, this game was the single best game I played this year. With great-looking art, tons of plastic, and one of the most incredibly smart AI mechanics I've ever seen, this game is all about fun.
Defenders of the Realm - 4.75/5 Stars
http://superflycircus.blogspot.com/2010/08/defenders-of-realm-cure-pandemic-thats.html
In closing, this was a great year for games and gaming, and I was very, very fortunate to be able to log well over 200 individual games played this year. Luckily, very few of them sucked ass. Some of the losers this year were Tempt, Small Box Games' first utter failure that I am aware of, Munchkin Quest, which was about as fun as gluing my ball hairs to my legs and then attempting to do jumping jacks, and the worst offender, Halo Interactive Strategy Board Game, which while interactive, is neither strategic, nor a game.
My outlook for 2011 is phenomenal, and my only concern is that I will not have enough time to play games as I would otherwise like to. God bless you all, my dear readers, and my resolution this year is to attempt to both increase the rate at which I publish articles as well as put in some proper attempts to get review games from publishers so I do not run out of games to review for you. I may not be the best, most prolific writer, but you know that I've actually played the games, you know that I won't bullshit you, and you know I always tell you why I like or dislike a game. Take me or leave me, but I'm not going anywhere. I hope you, my reader, will stay on board and enjoy the ride.
Cheers, and best wishes for the new year,
~Pete "SuperflyTNT" Ruth

Miniature Painting With A Purpose - Charity Auction
Mercilessly Pilfered from Fortress:Ameritrash, with permission from Jim Bailey:

All,
I made a post about this earlier but here's a refresher. Sorry if I ramble a bit. Dave Taylor is a legend in the Games Workshop world as a painter, organizer, and all around stand-up guy. He also happens to be a pal of mine and John's. When he put up his exquisite Legio Custodes army for a charity auction, my ears pricked up. It turns out we have a couple of folks in our gaming community who have recently suffered incredible, insurmountable tragedies and Dave has raised the banner to rally us all. John and I do Grindhouse Games for fun as most of you know, just as we run the Alamo Fantasy and 40k GTs every year in San Antonio and do what we can to build community locally and worldwide. It's all about the relationships we engender and lifelong friendships. Having just returned to my house at the conclusion of Alamo VI, I'm a bit choked with emotion. I spent the weekend with folks just coming into the hobby and folks I've been friends with for literally decades now. It was a time for sharing what has happened in our lives over the last year and discussing triumph and tragedy. The recession has not been kind. Many are out of work or underemployed. Some have suffered worse than mere financial woes. As you will see from Dave's posts, It CAN get worse. What brought me into this hobby as a child soooo many years ago was a fascination with toy soldiers and gaming. What kept me in the hobby all these years was my friends and the community we have all built. All of you who are reading this know wat I mean. Every one of you is linked to your own local gaming crews just as strongly as I am to mine. You are also emotionally linked, as I am, to extended gaming groups that you only meet up with upon occasion over the years. I tell you this: We are ALL inextricably linked in a worldwide network of gamers...nay, friends. All for one, one for all. When I hear of the unimaginable misfortune of two of our comrades in arms, I am moved to follow our champion Dave as he does all that is in his power to alleviate the suffering.
Dave has painted up a complete set of Incursion models and resins from Fenris Games that, together with a brand new copy of the boxed game are being auctioned NOW on ebay. Dave is one of the best army painters in the world so this is indeed a rare treat. I encourage you to visit his blog, read about his process, and read about our cause. 100% of the take from this auction will go to pay the medical bills of our extended friends and you, the winner will have a one -of-a-kind: the best Incursion set in the world, bar none. Hell, if you want, I'll send you a box with a thank-you note scribbled on it rather than the one Dave has in his possession :-). I have personally bid 500 dollars as a challenge. Beat me and you take the prize, help gamers in need, and get the coolest box of toys ever...
Thanks folks. It's a tough old world. We may not be able to beat it, but we can damned sure do our best to help our friends.

Grindhouse is grinding out a FAT deal!
As noted on BGG and Fortress:Ameritrash, Grindhouse is selling their stuff at a HUGE discount right now.
http://www.incursiongame.com/products/stupid-good-deal-1#feature
You really need to look hard at this if you want Incursion but didn't want to drop 200$ on the full monty. Get on it!
And, just to be clear, I will be writing and publishing a review today or tomorrow; my home PC has died a horrible, ozone-smelling death and thus I need to go to Micro Center today and get a replacement!
Get to work, soldiers!

Sorry for the Hiatus...Working on Epic Engagements!
Sorry, Circusgoers, for the delays in writing a new article, but it's not because I'm lazy...it's because I'm enthralled with a new game system that I've been developing for use with virtually any miniatures game bits, Epic Engagements.
Epic Engagements started with my interest in making Star Wars Miniatures: Starship Battles a fun, playable game versus the lame, boring dicefest that it is as delivered by Wizards of the Coast. So, after creating an entire rulebook that completely fixes the game and makes it truly enjoyable to play, complete with rules for ramming, fighter launches and recoveries, new weapon abilites and whatnot, I realized that there's a ton of miniatures games out there that could take advantage of these rules, so I am in the process of redesigning this, complete with print-and-play spaceships (forgive the artwork, I'm great in business and as a writer I can hold my own, but as an aritst...not so much!), tokens, and statistics cards. It's going to be....well....EPIC!
Just to show the love, please feel free to download my very lovely 24x36" Star Map (w/2-inch square spaces), it's a Superfly Original:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/746466/star-wars-miniatures-starship-battles
In other news, Wizkids/NECA has announced that it will be releasing a couple of Star Trek Miniatures games, one with Sulu and Kirk kicking the piss out of 4-armed green guys, Clix style, and the other is going to be a space-based combat game, Clix style. The good news is that Epic Engagements can take these ships and use them in the game system if the Wizkids game sucks! Woot!
Press Release Here:
http://wizkidsgames.com/blog/2010/06/08/announcing-star-trek-based-games-from-wizkids/
Finally, to all the Dads out there, Happy belated Father's Day. It's great to have one day a year where the wife is obligated to get freaky with you and the kids actually listen to you. :) Enjoy that tie, boys!
New article looking like it's going to be released on Wednesday, and this time it's going to cover a game we all know and love....SPACE HULK 3RD EDITION! That's right, boys and girls, the Game To Beat All Games will be reviewed right here, on the Circus. If you didn't get it when it was re-released, well, "you done fucked up", as they say here in Kentucky. It may be the best game ever, unless you think that "pretending to be a 15th century farmer" is a viable use of a Game Night, in which case, God love you, get your farm on and have a good time.
See you Wednesday!

Memorial Day - A Note On The Military And News Of The Day
Memorial Day - Remember The Fallen And Those Who Remain
First, let me say that I come from a long, long line of warriors. My father and brother are Air Force vets, my adopted father was a Soldier, as was his only biological son and one of his daughters. My mother's father was a soldier as well, and many of my uncles were soldiers. These are the guys and gals that keep us safe. No matter how you feel about the current fucked up state of the world, remember that these folks are doing it for the same reason a guy wants to become a firefighter and the same reason that a guy wants to go to seminary and become a priest: It's a calling. Respect and admire the commitment to their country and its inhabitants, and know that while you may or may not like the commander-in-chief, the congress that sends the soldiers off, remember that the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardsmen of our nation's fighting forces are out there in the mud and sand trying to keep some semblance of peace throughout the world so that your kids can sleep well at night without the spectre of air-raid sirens or the fear of being blown up at a shopping mall.
Today, let's remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country, going back to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and current wars, police actions, and conflicts. Take a moment to remember that while the person who was killed in action is now resting in peace, their families, children, mothers, and fathers miss them terribly and are the true casualties after the flag has been folded. If you know a military family who has lost a love one, maybe say a prayer for them, give them a call and tell them you love them, or just think about what you can do to help them out in the future.
Black Dog Painting Studio- Incredibly Good And Incredibly Inexpensive Miniatures Painting
I was recently introduced to a guy on the web, Euen, who not only has a cool name, not only is a proud Scot, but is one hell of a good guy and a very talented painter. He posted some services on the web, and I jumped all over it because the price he quoted was ridiculously low. His site is http://blackdogpainting.blogspot.com/, where you can check out his work and see for yourself whether or not it's worth it to you or not.
He painted 16 miniatures, all Fantasy Flight, from Runebound and Fury of Dracula. They are superbly painted and he only took a week to do it. I asked him to basecoat and detail them, but not clearcoat or dip them because I wanted to see them in person before "sealing in the goodness", so to speak. Here's some imagery of my figures that I snatched from his website:
So, head over to his site, check out his stuff, and do some business with him! He's saving the money for college, I'm sure, not using it for drugs and hookers. He's a good dude, and I am positive you'll love his work.

The Final Word
I just returned from 3 days in Mexico, hence the reason for the lack of a new article. Internet was OK down there, but I was so busy at work that I didn't have a spare moment to format and publish a new article. This coming week will have A Touch Of Evil, Last Night On Earth, and Ghost Stories reviewed along with a couple of stories and photos from Tijuana and Puerto Nuevo, Mexico. Good stuff, so stay tuned!
